- After living in Panama for 3 years and keeping a blog (www.elaine-in-panama.blogspot.com), I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii. My goal when I moved to Panama was to live cheaply and travel. That didn't exactly happen as I lost my shirt (bought high, sold low as many people did). I recently bought an acre of land in a more remote part of the Big Island of Hawaii and I am building a very small house. Maybe now I can realize my true dreams: lots of travel, no mortgage, growing my own food, living off the grid, dancing...forever dancing!
